This grand location is the largest space within the Town Hall and features a high-arched ceiling and a wealth of natural light through its stained-glass windows. The Moot Hall annually hosts the Oyster Feast, Mayor Making event and many other civic functions and is the ideal venue for hosting a party or special event.

The North Committee Room
Capacity: up to 16 people
The North Committee Room with its oak carved fireplace and oil paintings, is an impressive venue for business meetings and seminars. Its scale makes it an ideal environment to hold more intimate board meetings, brainstorming sessions, and team meetings. It is also a great alternative from the Grand Jury Room for an intimate gathering or dinner. Located on the first floor, the room can be accessed via the marble staircase or lift.

The West Committee Room
Capacity: up to 20 people
The West Committee room is a beautiful space, decorated with original oil paintings and gold decorative accents. Furnished with luminous chandeliers and ceiling height windows, it is a light and elegant space in which to enjoy your special occasion. It’s a great place for small, intimate get togethers for close family or friends. Equally, the room is available for hosting corporate functions and lends itself well to interviews, team meetings and workshops. The room is located on the first floor of the Town Hall and can be accessed via the marble staircase and the lift.

The Grand Jury Room

The Grand Jury room is a tasteful and stylish room, suited to smaller meetings and functions. Decorated with original oil paintings, luminous chandeliers and ceiling height windows, this elegant and generous space is ideally suited for both corporate events and private celebrations. The room is located on the first floor of the Town Hall and can be accessed via the marble staircase and the lift.

The Council Chamber
Capacity: up to 80 people
With its painted dome ceiling and unique horseshoe shaped bench seating layout, the Council Chamber is ideal for business meetings, presentations and seminars. A truly impressive room, the glorious painted domed ceiling, commissioned by artist Charles Baskett, classically depicts the twelve months of the year and two stained glass windows portray the Roman history of the City. The Chamber is situated on the first floor of the Town Hall and can be accessed via the first marble staircase or a lift.

The Mayoral Suite
Capacity: up to 100 people
The Mayoral Suite comprises the Grand Jury Room and West Committee Room, which can be hired separately or in combination. Capacity can be increased further by adding the Mayor’s Parlour with an exclusive balcony which overlooks the town centre.

Old Library
Capacity: up to 80 people
Originally Colchester’s first Town Centre public library, the Old Library is designed in classic Jacobean style and oozes history. With its white, lime-washed walls, high ceilings, curved timber gables and mullioned windows, it’s an elegant space that is flooded with natural light by day and when twilight falls transforms into a glamorous location with sparkling chandeliers, stained glass windows and opulent marble bar. With two entrances and ornate stairs leading from the Colchester’s historic West Stockwell Street, this fully self-contained suite with reception, kitchen and cloakroom is an ideal setting for wedding ceremonies, receptions and parties.

Community Room
Capacity: up to 45 people
The beautiful ground floor Community Room operates as the Colchester Registry Office. This room operated Monday – Friday, every hour on the hour between 10am and 4pm.
