Colchester Castle Park is divided into the Upper Park and Lower Park by the Roman Wall that crosses through it east to west. The park spans 11 hectares and is Grade II listed in the English Register of Parks and Gardens of Special Historic Importance. The six access gates allow a flexible range of entry and exit points to suit your requirements.

The Castle Museum, Hollytrees Museum, Play Park, Cafe, Putt In The Park and Bandstand are located in the Upper Park which is inside the Towns Conservation Area.

Olly Murs in Castle Park

We were delighted to host Olly Murs’ huge homecoming gig at Castle Park for the August Bank holiday weekend 2021. Local superstar Olly, who revealed his love for Colchester before the show, performed for an estimated 10,000 people. He was joined by up-and-coming singer-songwriter Katie Kittermaster and TOWIE icon Mark Wright, who spun tracks on the DJ decks.

Music of the Spheres

Colchester Events, in association with Eye Music, staged a brand new, spectacular music and dance event at Colchester’s Castle Park: ‘Music of the Spheres’. The performance which had thrilled audiences around the UK and Europe, including at Latitude and the Henley Festival, was brought to Colchester thanks to support from Arts Council England. More than 350 people attended three 90-minute performances throughout the afternoon and early evening.

Lower Castle Park

Capacity: up to 14,999 people

Known as the “Pageant Ground”, Lower Castle Park provides a great setting for bigger public events in Colchester. Comprising open flat ground, surrounded by mature trees, and bordered by the river Colne to the north, this site has formed the picturesque focus for a wide variety of premiere events. The entire site is surrounded by existing iron railings reducing the need for security fencing at commercial events. The 6 access gates allow a flexible range of entry and exit points to suit your requirements.
